Save the Date: Paw Palooza 2018

January 26, 2018 By Agway of Cape Cod

Cape Cod will once again be home to the region’s largest dog festival with the return of Paw Palooza on July 14 and 15 at Dennis-Yarmouth High School. The extravaganza is put on by The Agway of Cape Cod Charitable Foundation and benefits the Cape’s two largest animal shelters — the MSPCA in Centerville and the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s shelter in Brewster.

The featured entertainment of the two-day event is the thrilling DockDogs® tournament. DockDogs® is the fastest growing water sport for dogs with sanctioned tournaments taking place from Coast to Coast. In an awe-inspiring display of canine athleticism, dogs jump from a platform into a 40-foot pool, competing for distance, height and speed. While veteran teams will be traveling from all over New England to compete, novices are also welcome and practice sessions will be available to all registered dogs in between competitions. You can register your dog to participate online at www.pawpaloozacapecod.com or on-site at the event.

What else can you do at Paw Palooza? Here’s a snapshot:

-Catch the High Flying Frisbee Dog Show on Saturday afternoon
-K-9 Demos from the Yarmouth PD and Barnstable County Sheriff’s Dept
-Agility Demonstrations from the Cape Cod Kennel Club
-Let your dog try the agility equipment courtesy of the Chatham Dog Club!
-Doggie University seminars on a variety of topics like ticks, behavior and healthcare
-More than 70 vendors selling and sampling
-A Kids Zone featuring inflatables
-Dog- and kid-friendly activities, such as Pupcasso Art Making, a Kissing Booth, face painting, tug toy making, doggie and kid caricatures, doggie facials and much more!
-“Leash free” play zones for pups
-A Puppy Pool Pavillion
-“Misting Tents” for keeping cool
-A Raffle Tent filled with dozens of spectacular prizes and packages
-Doggie Massage Therapists
-Food Trucks and plenty of treats (including ice cream) for dogs!

Admission is $7 (no charge for kids 12 and under or dogs). Through the Agway of Cape Cod Charitable Foundation, net proceeds will be donated to The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Brewster shelter and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (MSPCA) Centerville shelter. The two humane organizations will be on site at the event with information about their organizations.

Agway of Cape Cod’s Paw Palooza takes place at Dennis Yarmouth High School, 210 Station Avenue in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Hours on Saturday, July 14 are 9 AM – 6 PM, and on Sunday, July 15 from 9 AM – 4 PM. Free parking is available at DY High School and the adjacent Station Avenue Elementary School. All well-socialized, rabies vaccinated, leashed dogs are welcome!

Agway of Cape Cod’s Paw Palooza is made possible by the generous support of Blue Buffalo and The Town of Yarmouth Tourism Fund and dozens of other sponsors and vendors.
